After years of abandonment, the historic Armenbad (bath for the poor) has been transformed into a language school, a hotel and an event space. This was made possible taking into account the strict requirements by the monument preservation authorities. In cooperation with CPM Architekten, Wilk Salinas Architekten preserved the central swimming pool area with its arched encirclement for the use as a public swimming pool, also making a use as event space feasible. As both forms of utilisation must take place in the same space, the swimming pool itself was renovated in order to comply with today´s standards and regulations. It was restored to its historic length, a movable flooring covering the pool was installed enabling the use of the whole space for events without having to empty the pool of the water.
